On Saturday 1st October, a group of intrepid explorers took over CSIA! Students from Year 5 and Year 6 arrived on Saturday morning to hunt for clues which would open the elusive treasure chest. The teams gathered in the main hall, equipped with cool logic, mental arithmetic and their skills of deduction, before rushing out to discover the answer to some fiendishly difficult Maths challenges.
A range of clues were located at specific co-ordinates on a treasure map and students had to work closely in their teams to solve the puzzle. The answers of the clues led to the combination of the treasure chest and students rushed to discover the secret first!
Once open, however, the treasure chest revealed the next challenge; students needed to use their persuasive skills to convince the keeper of the treasure (the notoriously nasty Ogre-ish Oates) to part with his prized possessions. Literacy skills were deployed as students created perfectly persuasive texts, using the encrypted words recovered from the treasure chest.
Overall, Year 5 and 6 students proved their mettle and courage in breaking the CSIA code!
